Welcome Home
I'm Kathryn Lukas-Damer, and I've spent my life thinking about food and culture.
My favorite place has always been the kitchen. It's where I connect with the garden’s bounty and do my best to transform all that goodness into delicious, nourishing meals. Perhaps more importantly, I believe it is the place where love and care become something we can taste.
Early on in my life as a chef, restaurateur and founder of a pioneering, national fermented food company I was captivated by flavor and fascinated by traditional foods. In recent years, through two books and a podcast, I turned my attention to who prepares our food and the place we most often gather to share those meals: home.
Now, the next part of the journey begins.
I'm in search of the food rituals that create belonging.
This is at the heart of my newest project, The Sacred Table, a podcast and collection of essays that explore the food rituals that connect and shape who we become. In fact, I suspect that we write our deepest beliefs into our recipes.
If that's true, then every shared meal becomes a window into what people hold sacred and what it means to be human.
I'm truly glad you're here.
With Love,
Kathryn
